From 21st to 25th February, a mission under component 2 of the EU-EGPO Twinning Project, has been held at Egyptian Patent Office (EGPO) with the participation of 3 experts from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and staff of EGPO.

Component 2 of the project is entitled: Sustainable cooperation and coordination with right holders and SMEs established within the institutional approach”. During this week, daily sessions were developed to share experiences between the 2 offices in organising different awareness activities to disseminate the importance of the Patent system.

In particular, the sessions focused in the organisation of IP day events and the experts shared SPTO best practices in organising these events specifically for SMEs and entrepreneurs.

The main aim of this component is to raise awareness of SMEs and entrepreneurs about the importance of protecting their innovations using the Patent system because this allows them to become more competitive and to reach markets.
