The Egyptian Patent Office at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the National Academy of Intellectual Property in Egypt, in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization, organized two training sessions on patent search and examination for patent examiners from Arab countries from 12 to 15 October and for patent examiners from African countries during the period From 2 to 5 November 2020. The two training sessions aim at exchanging experiences between countries of the region and building the capacities of patent examiners in African and Arab countries with regard to conducting searches and examination of patent applications. The two courses deal with several axes, including the conditions and requirements for granting a patent, and research skills in related databases. The Egyptian-trained examiners presented the various topics of the two sessions in a practical and interactive way, allowing the participating examiners from African and Arab countries to apply research and examination skills in a practical manner.
