The achivement of The Egypatian patent office
It is established in 1951 by the laws 132 of 1951 and related now to the a Academy of scientific research and technology since 1971. The new law 82/2002 was published on 3/6/2002 and new protected area was added to the new law (Utility model, Layout Design & Integrated Circuit and Undisclosed Information).
Egypt is a member;
WIPO since 1975
Paris convention since July 1 .1951
Strasbourg agreement since October 17.1975
TRIPS agreement since 1995
Goals of Patent Office according to law
Register patent application for the local & foreign inventions
Grant and issue patents to protect the ownership rights of the Egyptian & foreigner inventors.
Collect the foreign patent applications and arrange them to be easily accessible to examiners and users.
Transfer the technological information from the patents all Over the
world and provide it to the specialists in order to develop their works and develop the local industries.
Encourage inventors by helping them to participate in exhibitions and medals.
Publish ( monthly )the official patent gazette which includes filed ,
accepted application , granted patents terminated applications and
patents.
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE :
Documentation Registration and publication department
Technical examination department .
Legal examination department.
Information department (library and computer ) .
Technical information and technology department.
Financial and administrative department
As a result of the strengthening project the patent office is provided with;
-Automation of the patent system for filing till granting
Patent using a new WEB base database created and design by the IT group of Egyptian patent office with cooperation of WIPO.
-Office Local Area Network comprising on:
Three server one primary server, one Backup server and one for Archiving System.
More than 80 work stations
12 network printers
Leased line (128k) for internet connection.
Law 82/2002
It was published 3/6/2002
It will protect new area (Utility model, Layout Design & Integrated Circuit and Undisclosed Information).
The law was harmonized according to TRIPS agreement and the pharmaceutical product will protect at the end 2005.
Novelty is international.
